Oussama Khatib, Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University visited METU Design Factory just before his seminar titled OCEAN ONE: A ROBOTIC AVATAR FOR OCEANIC DISCOVERY at Department of Electrics and Electronics Engineering.
Known for his research on methodologies and technologies in human-centered robotics including humanoid control architectures, human motion synthesis, interactive dynamic simulation, haptics, and human-friendly robot design, Professor Khatib will present his recent findings between 14:00-15:30 at Sevim Tan auditorium.
p style=”text-align: left;”>Participants greet each other via speed networking. During their conversations they shared their academic backgrounds and expectations from IDS. Forming the teams, students decided on the industry partner to work with. Then, teams started to work on the problems proposed by the industry partners. They are redefining the problems using the design thinking approaches they learnt.
Conceptual design presentation day will be held in the forthcoming weeks, with the participation of representatives of industrial partners and academic mentors.
With support from the METU Technopolis and sponsored by industry and NGOs, METU Design Factory provides training, equipment and infrastructure to interdisciplinary student teams for collaborative design projects.
IDS brings students from different disciplines together in interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative products.
IDS-4 will be conducted as an elective course (ID403 Collaborative Design) offered to all departments in 2016 Fall semester.
